Just remember that it is just a game. What happens in sports typically really doesn’t impact your life. There are many, many more important things than whether your favorite team won or lost a game. It really isn’t that important.
When Time Flies…
Everyone needs some time to themselves every so often. Some people need more, some need less, but everyone needs it. When you don’t get it, it can take a bit out of you.
Enjoy the little things
If all you focus on is the end result, the big picture, you might not see the small, important details that really help in the journey.
Curveballs aren’t a bad thing
The events that you don’t see coming, the events in life that you don’t expect – those are the events that lead to real change in life. You way not like that they happen, but they are important for growth and change.
Anticipate, don’t get wrapped up
You can try to anticipate problems that may happen in something and prepare for them, but it does nothing to get wrapped up in the worst case scenario. When you get wrapped up in the worst case scenario, it can just make your mindset toward it turn bad.
Never Forget
We will probably never forget where we were and what we were doing when we heard the news about the attacks. You may not know someone in New York or Washington or someone who was killed in the attacks. You may remember pictures for planes crashing or stories of survivors. Our friends and family have helped us through this time. It will not be forgotten. Keep this in your mind as you go about your business today.
The Littlest Things
Sometimes it is the littlest things that can make all the difference.
Interruptus Maximus
We live in a world where we have constant interruptions from what we are doing. Phones notifying you of the latest and greatest game requests, ads that start playing sound randomly on the page, random things happening around, we have many interruptions and a lot of things that are trying to grab our attention. All of these things are also taking us away from the quiet moments that we really need to regularly experience.
If we don’t have those moments, I feel that we start to lose focus on what is really going on in our lives and everything just starts to become noise. When there is that much noise, we can’t hear what really is going. All that noise can prevent you from looking at things and seeing what really may have happened.
All of these interruptions are taking us out of the moments we are in. It could be a quiet moment of peace or out and about with others. The noise just takes over whatever we are doing.
I believe that we do need to have those moments of quiet. Those are the moments that we can go back and look at what is happening and where things really are. Those moments of reflection and peace are really important to life.
Personally, I will use a lot of the “Do Not Disturb” modes to help keep me in the moment or in the quiet times. It really help, even though I get as many notifications as some people do. It really makes a difference for me.
Be Present
There is something about being present when you are with people. When you are always on the phone or being distracted by it, it takes something away from life. With all the technology, we are in one of the most connected times. But, with that connectedness, we really are also in one of the most disconnected times. People are more glued to their devices than really paying attention to the people and situations around them.
When you feel that urge to check your phone when you are with people, don’t. Just be present in the moment and enjoy what is going on around you. Those notifications will be there when you are done.
Plan, but expect different
You can dream up any way something you want to happen will happen, but the chances of it happening in that way are so miniscule. Likely what will happen is that it will happen in an unexpected and better way.
