When Too Busy Is Too Much

It is okay to step back at times and take it easier. With a number of things going on in my life now between personal life and work, it has jest seemed like everything has been rushing by and with that feeling, I need to find a time to just stop and relax and that isn’t always easy to do.

Don’t Just Take The Easy Road

The easy way isn’t always the best way. If the easy way is just doing the same over and over again, there is no opportunity for change. There is nothing that can happen without some risk. You have to take risks and have faith that the best (which isn’t necessarily what you think is the best) outcome will happen.

Didn’t work out? Don’t sweat it.

It really feels like that if people almost have to get what they want or they have a hard time accepting it. That’s not a good thing. You are not going to get everything that you want. It’s that is not a bad thing.

Things are not always going to work out the way you want them to. Can it be disappointing when things don’t happen the way you want? Sure, but that doesn’t mean that the world is ending. If it doesn’t work out the way you want it do, there could be something better coming down the road. Sometimes things not working out is just what you need.

If things don’t work out, just look at it as a learning experience and take it in stride. It isn’t the end of the world and there could be something better coming.

Write it out. You’ll thank yourself later.

I have really started to write a lot more, both public writing (which usually shows up here) and private journaling. It has really helped me in being able to reflect on things and to remember just what has happened. As I have gotten back into it, I have gotten much deeper in the topics I am writing about.

I recently looked back at some of the posts I wrote back 10 years ago. Yes, this site has been around in some form for more than 10 years. A lot of those posts were very shallow topics. This was also a time before Twitter and Facebook and the site was about the only “public” place I could share stuff. Most of the posts from then are on stuff I would either now post to Twitter or not really post about at all. I have started to go to more of a quality over quantity in some of what I post this site (and Facebook to some extent). I look back at those post and realize I was mostly posting to post.

If you think journaling is stupid, you likely haven’t tried doing it. I try to at least write something at the end of the day as sort of a “daily download” of what has happened in the day. It is helpful to look back at time to see if you have been going through some of the same things and how you may have handled them before. It is really beneficial for me to take some time at the end of the day to reflect on the day. I do use an app for journaling (Day One) which is nice because I have it installed on my devices so if something strikes me to write about, I will have it quickly available wherever I am.

My writing has started to get much deeper. It is more about what is on my heart. I am finding this very helpful to get this stuff down on “paper” and just get it out. It helps me process what is going on inside.

If you don’t do any sort of writing, I highly suggest it. It has been very helpful for me to write.

No Valentine, No Problem.

On Valentine’s Day, people can feel very lonely because there is such a focus in society these days about relationships on this day. However, if you are single, do not fret. It is perfectly  fine that you are not in a relationship at this time. Just because you are in a season in your life where you are not in a relationship doesn’t mean that something is wrong with you.

Society has put so much “pressure” on being in relationships that it can be tough for anyone who is not to feel happy about their situation. There is so much pressure put on my society to conform now, and that is not good. I feel that this pressure is causing people from being themselves and causing them to act like something they are not.

I used to complain on this day. That is no longer the case. I understand where I am and that I am there for a reason.

Always A Change In The Air

Change. People can’t live with it, and you can’t live without it. People don’t like change. If there are three things you can count on in life, it is death, taxes, and change.

You can’t grow in life without change. If you keep doing the same things over and over nothing will change. It really feels like people now just can’t handle any disruptions or changes in their routines – it is either my way or the highway. You need change to grow. You don’t experience anything new if you don’t change.

It seems that people complain a lot about any changes that happen. Change can be a learning experience. If I wasn’t willing to change, I would not have experienced any of the things over the last year that really made the year great.

People also seem to be afraid to try to make changes. People tend to complain about anything they don’t like, and don’t do anything about things that they can try to change. People don’t think that they can make a difference. Well, you can. Sometimes it just takes one person saying something to start something changing.

Change is good. Change helps you grow. Don’t worry about change.
