Apparently, what is considered news has really changed

Enough with this Tiger Woods stuff. I’m sick of it. If you did something like that, would you want the broadcast networks covering it? I didn’t think so.

Yes, ABC, CBS, and NBC all broke in today to carry Tiger Woods’ statement. Since when is the affairs of two people considered news? I know he is famous, but still, why is the affairs of one celebrity worthy of special report coverage the major broadcast networks. This stuff is not worthy of interrupting normal programming on the broadcast networks. ESPN yes, ABC no.

This also brings me to the point of what really is news these days. Should every facet of the lives celebrities be on the local news? I don’t think so. I would rather see the over hyping of weather than seeing updates on celebrities. Apparently, the powers that be think people want to know everything about what their favorite celebrity. Maybe I’m more of a traditionalist with news, but I don’t think that is news worthy.

People’s lives, if they are a celebrity or not, aren’t worthy of breaking in to normal programming.

I’m not a big fan of the pop version of a country song has a different feel (mood) than the country version.

I’m a little surprised that Brian Anderson will be doing the play-by-play for the Brewers/Phillies in the NLDS since he is the Brewers normal play-by-play guy. I could see that as being a slightly skewed broadcast.

Will someone please tell ESPN to quit it with the rumors of Favre coming back? It is starting to feel like they are just trying to make up a story. Taking what one “source” says and blowing it up is not what I call good reporting.

So the national spelling bee is on ESPN and I don’t think it is that fair that they are using drug names as words. And I’ll bet we’ll see someone big from ESPN on air tonight.

Do we really need Mike Greenberg, Mike Golic, and Stuart Scott covering the Spelling Bee? I think that is a good thing that ESPN/ABC covers it like it is a major event, but Stuart Scott as the “sideline” reporter? Okay…

So I’m watching Game Show Marathon and they are playing Match Game. Lance Bass does not know how to play Match Game. He’s as bad as Ravens coach Brian Billick was when he appeared on Match Game PM in the 70s (too bad I can’t find a summary of that episode…)!

NFL Bans TV Cameras on Sidelines

The NFL has banned all TV cameras except those belonging to NFL Films and the network broadcsating the came from the sidelines. This includes ESPN and NFL Network cameras. So what will this do for local broadcasters? That footage was all they used on the broadcasts so they may have to use the network feed. They want to clear up some of the comgestion on the sidelines.
